2 QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU RECOVER FROM DISCOURAGEMENT & GET BACK ON TRACK

I’m going pull back the curtain and get really honest and transparent with you here.

Sometimes I feel like I just “can’t” with my business. Not necessarily in a “I just can’t even” kind of way, but in a “I can’t control if my business succeeds” kind of mindset. With all of the marketing algorithms, the “pay to play” advertising culture, and competition from other businesses, it’s easy to slip into discouragement and I know I’m not the only one. In fact, your brain will offer you all of the reasons why you shouldn’t or can’t or why it won’t work. It is still very primal and wants to protect you from anything that might be new or scary… which includes leveling up.

Our job is to lovingly reject those thoughts and lovingly tell it back “but I can”.

So let me share an exercise that my coach shared with me that helps me get through the moments of discouragement.

Ask yourself two questions:

#1- What is the value I bring to my ideal client’s life? Or what is the value to them of helping them overcome their greatest challenge?

List all of the ways. I know you may be saying, “but Grace, I’ve already done this.” And that’s great! I know that your creative mind can dream up even more avenues that your service or product can be valuable. These avenues can even extend beyond what you originally created the business to address. Push past what you may have already come up with and dream up even more.

When you are discouraged, you see this whole list and you can see the value in what you do

#2- How can I help them?

I’m not talking about in what you sell, I’m talking about personally. What makes you uniquely equipped to help them. Sometimes our brains will try to push back and tell us that we can’t help them because we haven’t figured it all out perfectly yet or we still fall short. I challenge you to push back against that thought. What if you can help them even if you have bad days? How is that true?

I encourage you to reflect on those two questions because the more time you spend answering those two questions, the more you will believe that you can help ideal client, that you do have value here, and that helps us break out of feeling discouraged by things that are out of our control and move into a place of service and wanting to get ourselves out there.
